Trina Bennington, with the Domestic Violence Project HEARTS WITH HOPE PUBLIC ART CONTEST tells about the event that raises funding for the organization. Artists are invited to submit their articles by Jan. 28 – the winners will be announced Feb. 3 at the Repository and on First Friday, Feb. 4, the public will be invited. www.dvpi.org for more info. She is joined by Vicki Boatright, artist and counselor, who tells about her artistic project (www.okeyspromise.com) that raises the awareness of the connection between abuse of animals and children. She is proposing a public arts project, creating a large mural to be hung in downtown Canton. Margy Vogt, Public Relations Coordinator of the Massillon Museum describes the current exhibition and several new events in Massillon, including the creation of an Arts Quarter in the downtown. The Museum has recently acquired a ‘photo booth’, located in their main lobby that can be used by the public. She also described the ‘Brown Bag Lunches’ that occur every fourth Tuesday with special programs. Call 833.4061 for more info.
