Mindy Engler, M.Ed, M.L.I.S. McKinley Senior High School - Main Campus Teacher Librarian Project LIT Community Chapter Leader
In Bulldog Books You Gotta Read, McKinley Main Campus Librarian, Mindy Engler shares great books that kids can read. Kids can check out books from the McKinley Media Center or read eBooks with the Open eBooks app. Reading just 20 minutes a day helps kids with vocabulary development, comprehension, test performance, writing, oral and aural language (Stephen Krashen). Miss Engler has taught in Canton City Schools for 28 years. She has been a school librarian at Hartford Middle School, Timken Senior High School, and McKinley Senior High School Main Campus. In 2017 she became a Project LIT Community Chapter Leader. Her passions are finding the right book for her students, helping students, helping teachers, and helping teachers help students. She believes, like the Nel Gaiman quote, "We have an obligation to read for pleasure, in private and in public places. If we read for pleasure, if others see us reading, then we learn, we exercise our imaginations. We show others that reading is a good thing."
